Little could I have dreamed when I cheerfully picked up the phone call that my life would be put on hold – indefinitely. My ten-yearold daughter had been struck by a car. My husband and I raced to the ER, leaving the entire household dangling. From that day on, our lives became a blur of surgeries, procedures, and prognoses. Forget about food. Forget about normalcy.

And that’s when Bikur Cholim stepped in. When a volunteer delivered several steaming trays to our home, we smiled for the first time in hours. The savory soup, crisp salad, and mouthwatering cutlets warmed our insides in more ways than one. Before we could digest this incredible kindness, a fresh supper appeared the next day. And the next. And when Shabbos came around, our table was complete from homemade challah to dessert…with something to please every palate. Those lovingly prepared meals proved to be our anchor during the long, stressful months.
